ⓘ San Luis Mountains

The San Luis Mountains are a small, lower elevation mountain range of central-southern Pima County Arizona adjacent to the U.S Mexico border, northeast of Sasabe, Arizona–Sasabe, Sonora.

The range is from North-West to South-East trending, approximately 10 miles 16 km in length. The range borders the Buenos Aires national wildlife refuge to the West, both located in the South-Eastern part of the valley an altar. In the South-Eastern range abuts the Cobra range, with different peaks, and Cobre ridge borders the Western edge of the desert, Pajarito, in the Western part of the Pajarito mountains.

The Arivaca community lies in a valley to the North-East of mount San Luis on the South-Eastern end of the mountains Las Guijas lake Arivaca is located about 5 miles up on Arivaca wash. The international border is less than one mile South of the southern margin of the range in Fresnal wash. Cumero mountain peak at 4.698 feet 1.432 m is 2.1 miles, 3.4 km to the North of the border.

Two mountain ranges, the San Luis in the South-West and North-West lie the Cerro Colorado West of four mountain sequence Tumacacori Highlands in the adjacent Western Santa Cruz County, Tumacacori, Atascosa, Pajarito, and the Sierra La Esmeralda mountain ranges. The highlands are now part of the study the conservation of wild cat, use, a transportation corridor between mountains, the study called four-Gatos -four cats, for mountain lions, lynx, ocelot and Jaguar.
