Under Article 106 of the Municipal Law of the State of Aguascalientes, the state defines its settlements as follows: Villa town: Census population of over 1.000. Ciudad city: Census population in excess of 15.000 inhabitants. Poblado village: Census population of between 500 and 1.000. Rancheria hamlet: All other settlements.
Tepetitan is one of the two most important towns of the Macuspana Municipality, Tabasco in Mexico and one of the 19 regional development centers in which most of the municipalitys economic and social activities occur. It is the oldest settlement in the municipality and in the vicinity there is a river. Its population is 1.522 inhabitants and it is about 23 miles from the municipal seat.
