Zona Rio is an official zone, and the main modern business district, of the city of Tijuana, Mexico.
Zona río is located at a strategic point in the Northern part of the city, approximately 1 mile 1.6 km from the U.S Mexico border and 9 km, 14 km from downtown San Diego. Zone Rio is located in Delegacion Centro, or the Central R-n, Tijuana. The old downtown Tijuana, Zona Centro, in the border zone of Rio in the West.
Zona Rio is home to most of the regional headquarters for the commercial and financial businesses and health services. The citys largest Mall, Plaza Rio Tijuana, Central market, and most of Tijuanas major hotels and upscale restaurants are also located here, as well as area Rios three main avenues Paseo de Los heroes Avenue and Padre Kino Boulevard General Rodolfo Sanchez Taboada. Area Rio office space submarket in 2016, 111.059 square meters 1.195.430 sq m of class A and b office space, with another 25.043 square meters 269.560 sqm in the adjacent Agua Caliente submarket, totaling 136.102 square meters 1.464.990 sq. ft. In this area can be considered the outskirts of the city.
Although being relatively small compared to other Mexican cities main business districts such as Monterrey and Guadalajara, Zona Rio de Janeiros famous skyscrapers, which due to the relative distance between them is very noticeable. With the tallest buildings are the 28-storey twin towers that are home for the Plaza Aguacaliente and Grand Hotel Tijuana, commonly called by local residents of Las Torres or the towers.
